Introducing Copilot Characters: Microsoft First Look.

 

We're now introducing Microsoft Copilot Characters.

NOTE: We're testing this feature currently in the Beta Program phase currently in Japan. More areas will be coming soon as a new blog when announced.

What is Copilot Characters?

Copilot Characters is a new way of AI experience, Copilot Characters can do more behave beyond limits of content creation. Copilot Characters can give you benefits, such as creating images, summarizing main points for this file and do more just like that.

Overall, Copilot Characters gives you an AI overview of what content you look, you see and you can discover anything, with Copilot Characters.

Eligibility for Beta access

We're testing this early access beta feature only in Japan. More of these countries for beta access to final release are also them going to be in coming soon as future release date (TBA).

However, trying Copilot Characters in beta outside of Japan must have an active M365 AI Premium Subscription, usage limits and faster access depends on Copilot usage restrictions regarding to daily/monthly usage limits. 

As of October 1, 2025 - Copilot Pro is now rebranded as M365 AI Premium, with expands three tiers of M365 Copilot AI Paid Plans to: (Web Only M365 AI Plus (Standard), M365 AI Professional formerly as Premium and M365 AI Ultimate gives you full access to macOS/Windows App) with Pro and Ultimate gives you access to OpenAI Sora Video creation for Copilot and Clipchamp with two ways:

• Copilot Remix: Remix your videos from a image.
• Copilot Expand (Clipchamp only): Adds ability to make videos* **

Copilot Characters can see and discover the content you generated with AI Depends on the personality and definition of what you see, powered by Bing.

User disclosures and important notes

Regarding you uploaded files or creating content, keep in mind also - it has to be followed our Copilot's AI Safety Guidelines and part of the Microsoft's Online Subscriber Agreement (avoid uploading age-restricted, copyrighted, trademarked or other content violates privacy rights and applicable laws).

Keep in mind: Copilot Characters may guardrail unsafe behavior use performs appropriate or inappropriate depending on the use and safety against illegal use, any inappropriate or objectionable use can result of having Copilot access usage limited or banned if we behave or perform an abusive behavior illegally.

Copilot Characters is similar to Copilot Appearance?

Yes.

Copilot Characters may interact characters, on the other side: Copilot Appearance is only limited to US/UK/Canada Users only.

How to use Copilot Characters?

To get started using Copilot Characters (Beta), you need to be signed-in as Microsoft Account for the beta tester outside of Copilot Labs and one of the areas where early access features for to be them eligible.

Click on profile picture.

Select Characters.

Choose three characters (i.e. Fox, Water or Mushroom).

Then click back to exit.
